A ‘design sprint’ is an intensive process lasting multiple days. It is a mix of methods derived from various businessmodels, behavioural science, trend watching and design. All brought together in a short period; usually 5 days of continuous work with a small team. The advantages of design sprints are: The time constraints put pressure on output instead of debate and force the team to make desicions faster.
The Antwerp citylab2050 used design sprints with two projects: the first was the challenge of what the design of a ‘garden street’ could look like. The second was the redevelopment of an area against flooding with green and blue infrastructures, whilst also integrating recreation, historical background and economic activities.
