When changes in a neighbourhood in relation to climateadaptive design occur, school visits using an age-appropiate approach are an amazing way to spark interest in younger generations for the subject of climateadaptation as well as local projects and initiatives. Students are receptive to new concepts and creative in coming up with ideas, so they can make relevant contributions to the co-design and co-creation of features for their school grounds or local area. These activities can be combined with educational activities to raise awareness of the wider issues surrounding the initiative, such as climate-adaptation, bio-diversity and standard of living. This can hugely increase the long-term impact of a project.
It is important to build up a good relationship with the teachers and staff members at the school so you can gain an understanding of the abilities of the children you are going to be working with and then plan the school visit sessions accordingly. These visits resulting in a redesigning of the school playground is of course the most ideal result.
