Municipal Urban Designers
The urban designers of a municipality are responsible for the development and design of the physical space of villages and cities. They work at different levels of scale: with groups of buildings, streets, public spaces, entire districts or a vision of the spatial planning of the city with the aim of making urban areas functional, attractive and sustainable. Urban designers have the task of integrating the different requirements that the different disciplines impose on public space into their design: mobility, water and green infrastructure, recreation and other functionalities.
Urban designers can invite their colleagues from other disciplines at an early stage to think along with them on new developments in order to contribute to a broadly supported and integral sustainable and climate-adaptive design.
