Provincial government

The government system differs from country to country, but usually countries have a system of regional, provincial and/or local governments that are responsible for implementing national policies on a regional scale and for taking decisions at a more local level.

Within the context of a climate adaptation project, regional, provincial and/or local authorities can be responsible for issues such as water discharge, promoting and implementing sustainable urban climate solutions, and ensuring that sufficient and high quality green space is created for citizens.
Additionally, local authorities can play an important role in promoting climate adaptation and sustainability by supporting knowledge development and knowledge sharing and by supporting and developing common goals and policies.
