Stakeholders

Many people work together to make the city. It is important to involve stakeholders from the beginning to create support and generate appropriate ideas. This increases the chances of greater quality and success.

NGO’s

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operate independently of governments and are usually also non-profit organisations. NGOs tend to have an idealistic purpose and are often organised around a specific theme. They are active in sectors such as the environment, health, education and human rights.

Nature and environmentally oriented organisations can be an important stakeholder in projects related to climate adaptation and sustainability. They are often well anchored in society and are used to communicating with citizens and government.

Within projects related to adaptation to climate change, NGOs can contribute knowledge and experience and support concrete actions in the field. Depending on their size, NGOs can influence policy makers such as local governments and planners. Thanks to their independent position, NGOs can also act as intermediaries in various stakeholder groups.
